Melody Ehsani

She designs for Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and the nude-streaking Erykah Badu, but behind the flashy, plastic jewelry and gold-chained six-inch stilettos, lies a woman with hip-hop woven into her style and deep spirituality embedded into her whole persona. She’s intriguing, constantly dropping nuggets of knowledge that give insight on how her thought process influences her designs.

M.E., as she likes to call herself, creates her handmade collections out of her Los Angeles studio. Melody Ehsani has built the popularity of her namesake line on statement three-finger rings worn by celebrities such as Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, among others. She’s been seen lounging with Beyonce and making appearances at Diddy’s parties. Ehsani is Hollywood’s hottest accessory designer, with features in the May 2010 issue of Glamour Magazine and the latest Annual Design Issue of Surface Magazine.

Her star is rising, yet she remains down-to-earth. Pulling inspiration from her Baha’i faith, Ehsani incorporates the virtues of love, truth, and purpose into her work, and credits her creative forces to these principles. “It’s much deeper than just fashion,” the designer says. “I get to use fashion as a vehicle to do whatever I want in the world. It’s a great service opportunity. I’m excited most about just having the opportunity to do what I do.” Ehsani’s sources of inspiration seem most intriguing; she randomly quotes Einstein, draws upon the likes of Diana Ross and Eartha Kitt to find her inner diva, and has a transparent love affair with high fashion and architecture.
Now her collections are seen throughout today’s music videos, album covers, and red carpet events.

Melody Ehsani fights to upset the equilibrium.
